Portable is not stepping away from the ring anytime soon. Just days after losing his celebrity boxing title, the street pop star is already calling for another fight, signalling that his boxing journey is far from over.
Portable made his intentions clear in a leaked audio recording, in which he appealed to his promoter to secure him another bout, this time targeting an October return. Despite the recent defeat, his tone remained confident, insisting that he is still a winner and ready for a new opponent.
His message also revealed a shift in approach. While he acknowledged Carter Efe’s victory and said he has “given him his glory,” he made it clear that he has no interest in a rematch. Instead, he wants a fresh challenge, framing his comeback as an opportunity to “give another person glory.”
The request, however, came with conditions. Portable tied his willingness to fight again to certain demands, including receiving a car within a specified timeframe, continuing a pattern where financial incentives and rewards play a central role in his boxing appearances.
His renewed interest in the ring comes on the heels of his defeat to Carter Efe, who claimed victory by unanimous decision at the Chaos in the Ring event in Lagos.
The result crowned Carter Efe as the new celebrity boxing champion and earned him a N50 million reward, along with additional perks.
Portable, however, has not fully accepted the outcome. Since the fight, he has alleged foul play, accusing Carter Efe of using his physical advantage unfairly during the match.
He also demanded compensation from the organizers, citing both the result and the personal circumstances surrounding the fight, including the fact that his wife was in labour at the time.
This is not unfamiliar territory for Portable. His involvement in celebrity boxing has been marked by a mix of rivalry, entertainment, and financial negotiation.
He previously defeated Speed Darlington in a similar bout, a win that earned him recognition and a N20 million gift from Burna Boy.
Before that, he also faced Charles Okocha in a widely publicized match, where he emerged victorious and secured one of his earlier belts. These fights have helped position him as one of the most active figures in Nigeria’s growing celebrity boxing scene.
Beyond the ring, Portable has consistently blended music, controversy, and performance into a single brand. His rise to fame began with the breakout hit “Zazu Zeh,” featuring Olamide and Poco Lee, and since then, he has remained a constant presence in trending conversations.
His latest callout reinforces a clear strategy. Boxing, for Portable, is not just sport. It is spectacle, business, and visibility rolled into one.
As October approaches, attention will now shift to whether promoters can arrange another high-profile matchup and whether Portable’s conditions will be met.
For now, one thing is certain. Even after defeat, Portable is not slowing down. He is already preparing for the next headline.
