Filmmaker and actor Daniel Etim-Effiong has sparked conversations online after sharing his perspective on how married couples should respond to infidelity.
Speaking during an interview with Nigerian digital storyteller and entrepreneur Ifedayo Agoro, the actor suggested that cheating in marriage should first be approached from a place of healing and support rather than immediate anger.
“The first approach to your partner cheating in a marriage should come from a place of ‘how can I help you?'” he said.
Daniel further explained that infidelity may reflect a deeper issue affecting the cheating partner and argued that healing should become part of the response process.
“If they cheat on you, they are in a problem, so you should ask yourself how you can help them get out of that problem, and then we can start healing,” he added.
His comments immediately sparked mixed reactions online, with social media users debating accountability, forgiveness, emotional responsibility, and reconciliation in relationships.
While some people agreed with his emphasis on healing and understanding within marriage, others argued that infidelity should not primarily be viewed as a burden carried by the betrayed partner.
Daniel Etim-Effiong is known for starring in films and television series such as Plan B, Blood Sisters, Castle and Castle, and The Men’s Club.
Before fully transitioning into filmmaking, he studied Chemical Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
The actor is married to media personality Toyosi Etim-Effiong, and the couple have three children together.
