“They Stole My Money and Tried to Stop My Career” — Qing Madi Speaks Out Against Former Record Label

Qing Madi Speaks Out Against Former Record Label

Nigerian singer Qing Madi has publicly addressed her former record label, JTON Music, making a series of allegations ranging from financial disputes and contract issues to attempts to obstruct her music career after her departure from the company.

The fast-rising artiste shared her claims in a recent video, where she reflected on her experience after signing with the label as a teenager.

According to Qing Madi, she entered into the recording agreement at the age of 16 and faced several challenges during and after her time with the label.

The singer alleged that the company attempted to interfere with key opportunities in her career, including planned tours and music releases.

In the video, she claimed that the label contacted sponsors to prevent her from participating in a scheduled tour.

“I signed to a record label when I was 16. I’m going on tour and you told the sponsors I’m not going on tour. I’ll bring back the records they took down. If anything happens, it’s the label and I’ve left the label successfully. They even stole my money and are tarnishing my image.

I appreciate my fans because without promo I’ve gotten millions of streams. This same label ruined another female artiste,” she said.

Qing Madi also alleged that some of her music was removed from streaming platforms after her exit from the company.

The singer claimed she and her team had to take steps to challenge what she described as unauthorized takedowns of her work.

Speaking further on the dispute, she accused an individual associated with the label of financial misconduct and document forgery.

“She stole from me, did a bunch of weird things like forging my signature. She sued me for $2 million and she lost the case. She took down ‘Pepper Me’. I worked with my team to prove it’s an illegal takedown. They went through the corners again to take down the project,” she alleged.

The singer’s remarks have generated significant attention on social media, with fans expressing support and calling for clarity regarding the allegations.

As of the time of filing this report, JTON Music has not publicly responded to Qing Madi’s claims.

Qing Madi rose to prominence as one of Nigeria’s most promising young music stars, earning widespread recognition through her unique sound and hit releases that resonated with audiences across Africa and beyond.

Despite the challenges she says she has faced, the singer credited her supporters for helping her maintain momentum in her career.

According to her, continued fan support enabled her music to achieve millions of streams even without major promotional backing.

The controversy adds to ongoing conversations within the music industry about artist rights, contract disputes, ownership of creative works, and the relationship between young artists and record labels.

With the allegations now in the public domain, many observers will be watching closely to see whether the label responds or if further legal developments emerge from the dispute.
