Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ayomide Dawodu has revealed that she remains single years after the end of a relationship she once described as beautiful, insisting that she is in no rush to remarry despite societal expectations.
Speaking in an interview with Potpourri, the indigenous Lagos-born producer reflected on her personal life, revealing that she has not found love again since her relationship ended in 2018.
According to the actress, the relationship remains one of the most memorable chapters of her life despite the heartbreak that followed its conclusion.
Dawodu explained that although the experience ended painfully, she chooses to focus on the positive memories and lessons she gained from it.
The producer of the cinema movie Single Action also dismissed suggestions that she is actively searching for a partner, stressing that her happiness is not dependent on being in a relationship.
“The whole world is probably asking you when you’ll get married, but that decision is yours. Don’t rush it,” she said.
Encouraging women to prioritize their personal growth and ambitions, the actress advised them not to allow societal pressure to dictate the pace of their lives.
“As a woman, you ought to be strong, self-determined, courageous and hardworking. Don’t set limits for yourself. Don’t engage in competitions; do your own thing,” she added.
Speaking about the kind of man she hopes to meet in the future, Dawodu said she is willing to wait for someone who possesses qualities she considers important in a lasting relationship.
“I want the right man who’s honest, mature, intelligent, has a positive attitude, is helpful, God-fearing, understanding, loving and caring,” she stated.
Beyond her personal life, the actress revealed that she remains focused on her career and is currently working on new film projects.
According to her, she is developing new scripts and preparing to produce another movie following the success of Single Action. This project helped elevate her profile in the Nigerian film industry.
While she remains open to love, Dawodu’s comments suggest she is more focused on personal fulfillment, career growth, and waiting for the right partner than on rushing into another marriage.
Her message has resonated with many women who continue to face societal pressure regarding marriage, serving as a reminder that life decisions should be made on one’s own terms and timeline.
