Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has opened up about the role she played in launching Toyin Abraham’s acting career, expressing pride in the filmmaker’s remarkable success and applauding her for never forgetting those who supported her journey.
The respected actress also revealed that while she has introduced several people to the movie industry over the years, Toyin remains the only one who has consistently acknowledged her contribution publicly.
Speaking about their first encounter, Bukky Wright recalled meeting Toyin Abraham when she was still an aspiring actress.
According to her, Toyin’s quiet and humble personality immediately caught her attention and inspired her to lend a helping hand.
“The very first day I met Toyin Abraham, she looked so timid and naive, which made me like her, and I thank God that I helped her then.”
Bukky said she has watched with joy as Toyin evolved into one of Nollywood’s biggest stars.
The veteran actress praised Toyin for always giving her credit whenever she speaks about her journey into the Nigerian movie industry.
According to Bukky, that loyalty means a great deal to her.
“Toyin is really making me proud, and she has never denied the fact that I was the person who brought her into the movie industry. I am part of her success story today.”
She added that seeing Toyin thrive gives her a deep sense of fulfilment.
Bukky Wright disclosed that Toyin Abraham is far from the only person she has helped build a career in Nollywood.
However, she admitted that many of those she supported no longer acknowledge the role she played in their success.
“I have so many people that came into the industry through me that don’t even acknowledge all I did for them then. Out of all the people I brought into the industry, only Toyin credits me.”
Despite that, Bukky made it clear that she harbours no bitterness toward anyone, choosing instead to remain grateful for the opportunity to impact people’s lives.
