#AusOpen: Tennis Legend, Rod Laver congratulates Coco Gauff as he hopes to meet her


Tennis legendary player, Rodney George Laver has taken time to congratulate wave of the moment, Coco Gauff over her recent victory against Naomi Osaka.




Coco Gauff shocked many fans when she defeated Naomi Osaka, the defending champion of Australian Open in straight set as she continue her good form to the season.

The 15 years old revealed after the match that she hopes she meets the Tennis legend for a selfie.

She said: “I love it down here. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. Oh my gosh I’m on Rod Laver Arena I can’t believe this!



“No [I’ve never met Rod Laver]. I’ve walked past him a couple times in the hallways but I never said hi because I’m a bit nervous. If he sees this, tell him we can set up a meet-up some time! I need a selfie for Instagram.”


Rob Laver has now responded to her request as he also noted his plan to meet her.

He tweeted:

Hello @CocoGauff – congratulations on your incredible victory tonight. I would love to meet you too. ?

Rob Laver during his playing days was ranked No 1 from 1964 to 1970, spanning four years before and three years after the start of the Open Era in 1968.
