Talented indigenous rapper and singer CDQ has called out organisers of the Headies Awards over the best street hop artiste given to DMW signee Mayorkun.
Headies Awards have become popular for it’s prestige and glamour but that has not stopped it from having it’s share of controversies and this looks like a trend that will continue.
The 14th edition of the award show was aired from the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos amid the COVID-19 pandemic and big names from the entertainment industry graced the occasion.
Top stars were recognised for their great effort for the past few months (See full list of winners here) and Mayorkun was amongst those awarded.
The talented singer won the best street hop artiste ahead of Olamide, Naira Marley, Reminisce, Rude Boy and Zlatan Ibile.
However, CDQ who was not pleased with this took to his official Twitter account to slam organisers of the show for giving the award to Mayorkun.
According to the rapper, Headies are not being straight with the award as it should have been given to Naira Marley rather than Mayorkun.
He tweeted:
Headies una don start dis una obvious industry politics tins again… How d hell una go carry Best Street Hop give someone else at the expense of Naira dis yr ?and conscience no judge una hmmm…
It’s left to see if fans and lovers of Mayorkun who is signed under Davido’s DMW record label will call out CDQ for his opinion.
