Tope Alabi was (born October 27, 1970), in Lagos State, Nigeria to Pa Joseph Akinyele Obayomi and Madam Agnes Kehinde Obayomi. The talented singer is the only daughter out of the three children in the family.
She attended Oba Akinyele Memorial High School, Ibadan, where she obtained her West Africa School Certificate (WAEC) in 1986.
Her next adventure concerning education took her to the prestigious Polytechnic Ibadan where she studied Mass Communication and graduated in 1990.

Music Career
Life Before stardom
The rose to stardom is not always a smooth transition and Tope Alabi had to face some difficulties before she got her first big break.
Her dream was to become an actress and she made her first move towards accomplishing that by joining a theatre group in secondary school.
She then joined the Jesters International group in 1983 and was acting with Papilolo and Aderupoko.
Tope also worked with Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ibadan between 1990 & 1991. Later, she worked with Centre-spread Advertising Limited, Lagos from 1991 to 1992.
Later, she got back into acting and joined the Alade Aromire Theatre group in 1994. It was in this group that she discovered her talent for singing and making soundtracks for movie productions.
Life after Stardom
Tope rose to stardom in the year 2000 after she released her debut album which she titled ‘Oore ti O Common’. This album gave her the name she has always desired in the music industry as it also earned her the moniker Oore ti o Common and Agbo Jesu.
Before that, she had released two albums Ikoko Dudu and Baba Iwo la k’epe.
However, she did Oore ti o common (uncommon favor) first as a cover of a makossa hit before changing it to a gospel song in 2000.
She also did some soundtracks such as Adake dajo, Angeli Mi, and many more.
