Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has obtained copies of the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms to vie for the Presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress.
He purchased the form on Wednesday in Abuja, becoming the first of many aspirants to do so, According to reports, the Minister of State obtained both forms with funds raised by group of Nigerians.

However, the development comes amid growing concerns of what the fate of ministers who are eyeing elective public office will be in the wake of the promulgation of section 84(12).
According to section 84(12) of the recently signed Electoral Act 2022, Buhari’s ministers vying for Electoral offices are required to resign from their current positions before the APC primary elections holding from May 30 to June 1, 2022.

The Minister of Education, Nwajiuba is not the only minister on the list as Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, and other Presidential aides are currently vying for various offices at federal and state levels.
The minister’s purchase of the form is also coming at a time perennial industrial action embarked upon by Academic staff union of universities (ASUU) has crippled tertiary education in the country.
