“I Announce My Candidacy” — Gov Seyi Makinde Declares For 2027 Presidential Election

Seyi Makinde has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the Allied Peoples Movement.

The governor announced a political rally held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Excellency, announce my candidacy for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he declared during the gathering.

The development comes after Makinde reportedly led the Peoples Democratic Party faction associated with Taminu Turaki in Oyo State into a strategic alliance with the APM.

As part of the agreement, candidates linked to the PDP faction contesting governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly seats are expected to run under the APM platform rather than the PDP in the 2027 elections.

The alliance is being viewed as part of a broader political restructuring underway across multiple parties ahead of the next election cycle.

Makinde’s declaration is expected to intensify conversations around possible alliances, defections, and opposition coalitions as political figures begin positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential race.

The Oyo governor has remained one of the prominent figures within opposition politics in recent years, with his administration often drawing national attention over governance, infrastructure projects, and political strategy in the South West region.
