Carlos Tevez announces retirement from football following death of his father

Carlos Tevez, a former Manchester City, and Manchester United star, has declared his retirement from the sport after losing his number one supporter, his father.

The attacker claimed that he had been approached with offers to extend his football career, but he had denied them, opting to retire at the age of 38.

Tevez revealed he had stopped playing football after losing his adopted father,
Segundo Ralmundo following complications from covid-19.

He said:

“I have retired, it’s confirmed,’ he said, according to the Mundo Albiceleste website. ‘They offered me many things, including from the United States. But that’s it, I have given everything.

Playing the last year was very difficult but I was able to see my old man. I stopped playing because I lost my number one fan.”

The Argentinian had revealed his struggles with weight gain, as he admitted to eating and drinking to much after leaving his former team, Boca;

“I eat empanadas and drink fernet and wine – whatever I want, I take care of myself a little, but I now have an extra three or four kilos. I get up a little late. I can’t imagine going back to training and running.

I used to get up at 6am to go training. I would arrive first and be the last to leave. But I don’t have the strength to do that now.’”
