The mother of Honourable Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya, the All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Jigawa Central senatorial district, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
On Monday night, June 20, Hajia Jaja, a septuagenarian, was kidnapped from her home in Jigawa State’s Kiyawa Local Government Area.
The alleged kidnappers broke into the senatorial candidate’s family home and carried the victim away to an unidentified location, according to Jigawa State Police Command spokesperson DSP Lawal Shisu, who verified the event.
According to the PPRO, after receiving the report of the abduction, the state commissioner of police mobilised a special police team for the rescue of the victim.
He noted that to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects and rescue of the victim the police are collaborating with other security agencies and the public for useful information.
A source from Kiyawa told the newsmen that the gunmen numbering about 15 to 20 stormed the town in three vehicles.
