Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have kidnapped Engr Michael Ogiasa, a kinsman to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Spokesperson of the Bayelsa Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat, who verified the incident, said Ogiasa was kidnapped from his community, Otuabagi in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Thursday, June 2, adding that sweats are being made to deliver him.

Ogiasa, who was a former press member in the administration of former Bayelsa governor Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, is also the convener of Voice of the South-South, a socio-political group at the van to draft Jonathan into the 2023 Presidency.

Sources said Ogiasa’s family kept the hijacking under wraps believing that the kidnappers would communicate to the family for rescue to be paid still.

Still close to 48 hours after his kidnap and no word from his abductors the family had to report the incident to the Police for disquisition and conceivably his deliverance.

According to a source in the community who spoke to Sun, Ogiasa had just finished a meeting in the community when markswomen numbering eight raided his house just as he arrived from the meeting and whisked him down.

“He had intended to return to Yenagoa after the conference, but other individuals persuaded him to stay until the next day. morning. He was outdoors when the markswomen arrived and kidnapped him, ” the source added.
