Biography

Brandy Rayana Norwood, a well-known singer, was (born February 11th, 1979), to Willie Norwood and Sonja in McComb, Mississippi. Her mother worked as a district manager for H&R Block, and her father is a gospel singer and choir director, thus she was reared in a musical home.

Ray J, Brandy’s younger brother, is pursuing a singing and acting career in the entertainment world. Her first cousins are the wrestler Sasha Banks and the rapper Soop Dogg.

Brandy developed an interest in music at an early age and followed in the footsteps of her father, she began singing in the local church choir. By the age of 2, her dad led her to perform her first gospel solo. After spending a few years in Mississippi, in 1983 the family decided to move to Los Angeles for better opportunities. Upon her education, Brandy went on to attend Hollywood High Performing Arts Center.
