The terrorist attack on the Kuje Medium Custodial Center has been fully attributed to the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).
On Tuesday night, terrorists broke into the Medium Security Custodial Center and freed at least 600 inmates, including 15 Boko Haram commanders.
As a result of the incident, several inmates used the chance to flee prison.
According to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), 443 of the 879 inmates that escaped have been found, while 551 detainees are still inside the prison with 16 injuries and 4 fatalities.
An officer of the NSCDC also lost his life, while at least 8 NCoS officers were wounded.
The terrorist sect in a video released on Wednesday night showed some of its men shooting their way into the facility.
The 38 seconds video released by the terrorist group showed fighters marching in groups while vehicles and buildings were on fire.
