Dede Mabiaku launches own version of the “Emi lokan” song originated by pyrates (Video)


Afrobeat artiste, Dede Mabiaku composes his own version of the ‘Emi lokan’ melody.

Few days after the pyrates confraternity paraded the streets with an Emi Lokan chant paying tribute to an anti-tinubu campaign, Afrobeat artiste, Dede Mabiaku reformed the song to his style and made it danceable to.


The viral pyrates’ video caught the heart of many who dislikes the APC presidential candidate as they sang along.

Veteran linguist and Professor, Wole Soyinka condemned the act as ridiculous, saying it is an awkward scene.

To those that don’t know Dede Mabiaku, he is an Afrobeat, Highlife & Jazz musician.




He is a protégé of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. For more than 10 years, he was an integral part of Felas daily life and his band Egypt 80.

Dede opened all Felas local & international shows, performing on vocals and playing the saxophone.

Dede tours with his band, The Underground African Sounds.

He was a judge on the 2010 edition of the West African Idols.
