Early Life

On September 11, 1964, Mo Abudu was born in London to Nigerian parents from the Ondo state. Of her three sisters, she was the oldest. Her parents returned to Lagos to reside when she was seven years old. From there, she traveled to Ondo State to meet her grandparents, who owned a cocoa estate, where she gained an understanding of Nigerian culture. She attended Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School in Nigeria until she was 11 years old.

At 12 years old, her father passed away. She then went back to the UK to finish her education. She went to the Ridgeway School in Kent, where she afterward lived with her local guardian in the affluent hamlet of Tunbridge after attending Hammersmith County Secondary School.

The ELFIKE Film Collective, which created the romantic comedy The Wedding Party, included Ebony Life Films. In 2016, one of Nigeria’s biggest box office successes was The Wedding Party.
