Early Life
TG Omori, real name, Thank God Omori, was (born June 8, 1995), in Cross River State, Nigeria. After completing his secondary education at Kuramo College, he went on to the Pencil Film Institute in Lagos, where he eventually attained the status of Nigeria’s youngest filmmaker at the age of 18.
Career
TG Omori started on the path to becoming a top-notch video director at a young age. He credits Nigerian veteran filmmaker Tunde Kelani as his inspiration, and over time and with a lot of hard work, he has grown into the person he is today.
TG Omori began his career as a cameraman at the age of 18. The artistic director didn’t plan to go to college. He decides on film school since he thinks it will be one of the easiest ways for him to develop his excitement and creativity.
TG applied for admission to PEFTI, Wale Adenuga’s film school (Pencil Film Institute). He acknowledges keeping it a secret from his parents, who were devastated to learn the truth.
It might be interesting to learn that before opting to become a cameraman, TG tried his hand at becoming a novelist, rapper, comedian, and dancer. He quit performing because he couldn’t find a job and the pay was either nonexistent or insufficient.
He learned how to use a camera and edit movies while working as a comedy playwright at a manufacturing company. He would study YouTube video lessons on how to operate before returning to the studio where he works to put what he had learned into practice.
After months of grueling work, learning, and being under the limelight, he felt forced to express the ideas and concepts he had been keeping to himself.
He assembled a group of musically inclined friends and shared his ideas with them.
His proposal piqued their interest, and they gave $20,000 for the shoot.
He combined the funds with his own to pay for the location and camera rentals. He began making movies with this goal in mind.
He was hired by Lucas James, the boss of ES+, for his first significant task, a mission with a budget of 500,000 nairas. Despite this being TG’s first time leading a large mission, he brought his A-game to the execution of the job.
He claims in one of his interviews that it was the first time he worked with a Red Dragon Camera, one of the best and most expensive cameras available for recording. To make up for his lack of camera expertise, he hired a digicam helper.
After being aired on Soundcity and widely disseminated via the mainstream media, the video went viral.
A buyer in Chicago who wanted a video shoot for his singer sold TG a name in 2015.
He initially requested a value of one million nairas, but he eventually settled on 700,000 nairas. He consented, and filming began on the music video for Minz’s song, “Aunty Patricia.”
Because of this, he has more career opportunities now that bookings from A-list musicians are starting to stream in. The best recommendation, as they say, comes from a satisfied customer.
Because the concepts behind the shootings are so great and unconventional, everyone requires his services. TG has worked with various artists, including Olamide, Tekno, Patoranking, Mayorkun, Zlatan, Naira Marley, Teni, D’banj, Burna Boy, BNXN, Kcee, Phyno, and many more.
