Lagos State Police Command has said that the celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna aka IVD, who was accused of being responsible for his wife’s death, has been arrested.
Lagos police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed this on Monday night via Twitter, adding that IVD is not on the run as claimed by his in-laws.
Hundeyin said IVD has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in the Yaba area of the state. The police spokesman did not say when the businessman was arrested.
“Contrary to claims by family and friends that 37-year-old Ikechukwu Ogbonna aka IVD is on the run, he has been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba,” he wrote.

A fire incident occured at IVD’s residence over the weekend in Lekki. His in-laws have accused him of pushing his wife Bimbo Ogbonna into the fire and watching her burn.
Mrs Ogbonna, her family said in a statement on Monday, later died in an undisclosed hospital from severe injuries suffered from the burns.
IVD and his wife were married for 16 years and they have five children.
