On Thursday, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo faced a major reaction from Nigerians after claiming that his predecessor, Mr Peter Obialleged,’s investments in the state were worth next to nothing.
This, he added, despite the backdrop of various investigations into the investments Mr Peter Obi claims he made as governor of the state from 2006 to 2014.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Soludo submitted that the value of Mr Obi’s purported investments is worth next to nothing.
“I think there was something I read about somebody speculating about whatever investment. With what I’ve seen today, the value of those investments is worth next to nothing. So, let’s leave that aside,” the governor said.
Also speaking on his employment plans for the people of Anambra state, Soludo said: “We are handing out employment letters to more than 5, 000 teachers to end an era of schools without teachers.
“We are going to have 240 plus doctors and consultants to man our general hospitals, so if you look at the five fingers approach of our programmes we designed our budget to keep our eyes on the ball.”
Reacting to this, Nigerians called him out as they disagree with his claims.
@SammieAbam wrote: “After how many years of mismanagement, Wuna well at all? You people are coming here to comment on rubbish, Call Peter Obi any day anytime he will gladly come out and clear the air. Tinubu should come out and defend himself against the drugs allegations….we are waiting.”
@Adewale Adeba: “Soludo is envy the glory and popularity of Obi is it verify that he invest yes . Did he leave money for the next governor yes did he borrow money no . Soludo you lied against the man of people Obi has left power 8yrs ago so you have no right to rubbish the achievement of Obi.”

@UdogwuMi: “So after 8 years of Obiano’s mishandling of Obi’s investment, which Obiano himself admitted dat he used some to build an airport, Obi should now take respnsibility for all his successors failures? This is a poltical statement,Soludo is threatened by Labours popularity in Anambra.”
Soludo’s remark is coming a few months after he had dissociated himself from a viral investment news about Peter Obi.
The peddlers of what Soludo declared was a false news claimed that he (Governor Soludo) said Peter Obi’s $20 million Investment is worth $100 million today.
In a swift reaction, the governor, via his Facebook page debunked the news under the comment section of the viral post.
Urging citizens to carry out their el campaigns honorably without misleading the public, Soludo wrote,
“Where did you read or hear me make such false statement?
“This fake news has been roundly debunked by my team. We can always carry on with campaigning for our preferred candidates without consciously misleading the reading public. This report is false and never emanated from me. Thank you.”
