“I give my life to my club”- Tottenham’s Richarlison says he does his best every game

Richarlison is quick to point out that he is not at Tottenham “simply to be humorous,” with the Brazilian seeking to make an impression both on and off the field.

During the summer transfer season, Spurs paid £50 million ($58 million) for the 25-year-old attacker, with Antonio Conte hoping to bring in a proven Premier League player from Everton. Richarlison arrived in north London as a joker, but he aims to contribute as much to domestic and European success as he does to team harmony.

Richarlison told Globo that he enjoys playing with a smile on his face: “I’ve been like that since I was a kid, a playful guy, I like to play with people. So I think people like it. But of course we know that many people confuse. That’s why I always say that if I’m in the national team it’s because I honour the shirt.

“I give my life to my club, I do my best every game and I’m not there just to be funny. There’s a time for chatting and there’s a time to work. Because when I’m on the field, you can see me frowning, I have few laughs. This is my way.”

Richarlison has yet to score in the Premier League for Spurs, with both of his efforts coming in Champions League competition.

While the South American forward is eager to make his mark at club level, he is also counting down the days until his country’s bid for World Cup glory, with Richarlison scoring 16 times in 37 appearances for Brazil.
