Bruno Fernandes Wins Premier League Player Of The Season Award

Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season after an outstanding campaign with Manchester United.

The Portugal midfielder beat several top performers across the league to claim the award, including David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, Declan Rice, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, Igor Thiago, and Morgan Gibbs-White, who were all shortlisted for the honour.

Fernandes’ latest recognition comes shortly after he was also named the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year earlier this month.

The midfielder equalled the record for most assists in a single Premier League season after registering his 20th assist against Nottingham Forest last weekend.

In addition to his creativity, Fernandes scored eight league goals in 37 appearances as Manchester United secured third place and qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The Portuguese playmaker also finished the season as the league’s leading chance creator with 132 chances created, 43 more than second-placed Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool.

Fernandes becomes the first Manchester United player to win the Premier League Player of the Season award since Nemanja Vidić claimed the honour in 2011.

A combination of public votes and panel selections of football experts determined the award winner.
