Nollywood actress Beverly Osu has spoken against the culture of blaming people for ending up with the wrong partners while ignoring those who intentionally deceive and manipulate others in relationships.
Taking to her Instagram story, the actress argued that society often shames victims for trusting instead of holding dishonest partners accountable for pretending to be someone they are not.
“We love blaming people for choosing the wrong partner, but we never blame the person who faked their entire personality just to get them,” she wrote.
“Stop shaming someone for trusting, and start holding the deceiver accountable for manipulating.”
Her comments have since sparked conversations online about emotional manipulation, accountability, and trust within relationships.
Beverly’s remarks also add to the growing number of relationship opinions Nigerian celebrities have shared on social media recently.
Actress Lizzy Gold had earlier advised men to marry women richer than them if they want respect in marriage, while stating she would only marry a man wealthier than herself.
Similarly, actress Kemi Afolabi warned people in relationships to protect their lives and avoid toxic situations, whether in marriage, friendship, or courtship.
Opeyemi Aiyeola also recently advised people not to enter relationships solely on emotion, urging them to apply wisdom to avoid manipulation.
Meanwhile, Yoruba actress Yewande Adekoya encouraged intending couples to undergo personality, psychological, and mental evaluations before marriage.
Socialite Yhemo Lee also recently joined the conversation about relationships, claiming that many men become emotionally detached when their sacrifices are constantly ignored while their mistakes are repeatedly highlighted.
Beverly Osu, who gained fame after participating in Big Brother Africa, has remained known for openly sharing her thoughts on relationships, social behaviour, and personal growth.
