A 31-year-old boyfriend revealed on Reddit that he ended his relationship with his girlfriend because she wanted to replace his 16-year-old dog with a puppy.
He wrote on reddit:
I(31M) just broke up after she(30F) said she wanted to replace my dog
My dog is already 16 years old and a senior citizen. He’s not as healthy as he used to be, and my ex-girlfriend suggested we give him up before moving in together because he’ll be a burden.
She even promised to replace him with a cute new puppy. I tried to explain that I took responsibility for him through adoption, that he’s my family, and that I’m not abandoning him, but she said he doesn’t understand that anyway.
She stated that I must choose between them. I ended it right there with her. It’s terrible to realize that I thought I knew her well but didn’t.
