Wali Regragui, Morocco’s national team coach for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, has been named one of the nominees for The Best FIFA Men’s Coach award.
Lionel Scaloni (Argentina), Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid), and Didier Deschamps (France) have also been nominated (France).
Nominations are now open for voting on FIFA’s official website.
The criteria used by FIFA to select nominees for the category are listed below.
Lionel Scaloni
Key achievements: Won the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ● Led Argentina to a national record 36-game unbeaten run
Pep Guardiola
Key achievements: Won the 2021-22 English Premier League ● Won two successive English Premier League Manager of the Month awards in the 2021-22 season
Carlo Ancelotti
Key achievements: Won the 2021-22 Spanish Primera División ● Won the 2021-22 Supercopa de España ● Won the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League
Walid Regragui
Key achievements: Led Morocco to fourth place at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ● Became the first coach to lead an African nation to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup ● Won the 2021-22 CAF Champions League
Didier Deschamps
Key achievements: Led France to a second successive FIFA World Cup final ● Became only the fourth coach to lead a nation to two successive FIFA World Cup finals
