Rinat Akhmetov, president of Shakhtar Donetsk, has donated $25 million to the “Heart of Azovstal” from the transfer fee received by Chelsea for Mykhailo Mudryk.
The Heart of Azovstal is a project that assists the families of fallen Ukrainian soldiers.
According to ESPN, Chelsea and Shakhtar have reached an agreement worth €100 million ($108.33 million).
Shakhtar president Akhmetov stated in a club statement that the $25 million donation “will be used to cover various needs.”
“I am allocating $25m [UAH 1 billion] today to help our soldiers, defenders, and their families,” the statement read.
“The money will be used to cover different needs — from providing medical and prosthetic treatment and psychological support to meeting specific requests.
“To ensure transparency, the project will have a professional independent team that will be in touch with the Azovstal defenders, their families, care providers, and volunteers.
“We are forever indebted to our soldiers!”
