Tems becomes the first Nigerian artist to earn an Oscar nomination

Temilade ‘Tems’ Openiyi has been nominated for an Oscar in the ‘Best Original Song’ category for ‘Lift Me Up,’ which served as the lead single from the soundtrack of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’ The 2023 Academy Awards will be held on January 24, 2023.

2022 BET Awards: Nigerian fast rising singer, Tems wins Best International Act

Tems co-wrote “Lift Me Up” with Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna, and Ryan Coogler.

Voting for the 2023 Academy Awards will take place from March 2nd to March 7th. The 2023 Academy Awards will be held on March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theater, and will be hosted by comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.




Tems previously defeated Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and others to become Billboard’s #1 Top US Afrobeats Artist of 2022.

Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has been named Billboard’s number one (1) Top US Afrobeats Artist of 2022.

On December 1, 2022, the announcement was made on Billboard’s website.

Tems outperformed Davido, Burna Boy, Ckay, Wizkid, Buna Boy, and many others.
