Afrobeat sensation, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has finally opened up on the reason for his silence amid the Presidential and House of Assembly elections.

Taking to his Instagram story, the Grammy winner expressed confusion as to why Nigerians are expecting him to speak out about the elections.

Burna boy maintained that he does not have a personal preference for any candidate in the elections. He added that the reason for his silence is to avoid misleading Nigerians into making a wrong choice and later facing criticism for it.

He ended by clamouring for a free and fair election that will enable the best man to win.

In his words:

“I dunno why its such a big deal to some Nigerians that i’ve not been vocal about the elections. Personally I don’t have a candidate that i believe in.

“I’ve never supported any political party or candidate in my life because I don’t want to make you vote and then blame me when the persons f#cks up as usual. That being said, I hope all votes count and the best man wins.”

He also shared his chat with a man who slid into his DM to assert that many people thought he would project a candidate hence he sings about societal ills in Nigeria.
