Early Life
Patience Ozokwor (born September 14, 1958, 67 years old) is from Amaobo, Ngwo, in present-day Enugu State, Nigeria. She has been passionate about acting since primary school, when she performed in different stage plays.
It is known that she is not the only child of her parents, as she occasionally talked about how she grew up alongside her siblings. However, little is known about them, as none became as popular as she did.
Additionally, details about her parents’ identities are not revealed, but she once mentioned that her mother was a famous trader in their village in the past.
Education
She attended Abimbola Gibson Memorial School in Lagos. She later attended the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu, where Patience obtained a degree in fine and applied arts.
Career
Before starting her acting career, she was part of a Radio Drama.
She was an announcer and a broadcaster at Radio Nigeria before becoming an actress. She rose to fame from her role in the 1999 movie Authority, and her first TV drama, Someone Cares, won a soap opera award on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Since her rise to fame, she has acted in over 100 movies.
Patience Ozokwor got her breakthrough after Chika Okpala’s crew assigned her a role in a commercial without her having to audition. She also appeared in a commercial with Pete Eneh, which caught the attention of Chief Zebrudaya and several other Nollywood directors.
She was then asked to enter the industry, but refused because she was shy and felt the film industry would give her excessive exposure. After several attempts of failed persuasion, they eventually managed to pull her to Nollywood.

Looking at her career as an actress, the screen queen rose steadily after taking part in commercials and a soap opera titled Someone Cares on the National Television Authority (NTA). Given her acting prowess, she was invited to act in her first movie in 1998.
A year later, she starred in her second movie, Authority, which catapulted her to fame and solidified her status as the African movie icon we know today.
Patience has played different roles in Nollywood movies. She has even acted as a mother figure to many Nollywood stars, including Ini Edo, Van Vicker, Ramsey Nouah, Rita Dominic, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Oge Okoye, and others. Her usual role as a wicked mother-in-law made her stand out in the entertainment industry.
She recently starred as Madam Pat in the Mo Abudu Netflix movies Chief Daddy (2018) and Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke (2022).
