Spain to issue temporary visas to fill 60,000 vacancies in the hospitality sector, find hotels recruiting now

A record number of international tourists have chosen Spain as their preferred holiday destination, resulting in a significant labour shortage in the hospitality industry.

Randstad, a human resources firm, confirmed this, estimating that Spain needs at least 60,000 more workers to deal with the current situation.

According to reports, finding workers to meet demand is one of the most difficult challenges for Spanish authorities.

Increases the number of visitors

In January alone, Spain welcomed 4.1 million international tourists, a 65.8 percent increase over the same period last year.

Furthermore, foreign visitors spent €5,218 million on their trip and stay, which is €2,178 million (71.7%) more than in January of last year.

Furthermore, there was a 24% increase in February this year with 16.8 million overnight stays compared to the same period last year, according to data.

According to the National Institute of Statistics, rising demand has resulted in a labor shortage.

Spain still requires a large number of workers in tourism and hospitality to meet demand.

Relaxing work permit requirements for foreigners

To deal with the current situation, Spain’s Minister of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration, Jose Luis Escriva, announced that the country would relax work permit rules for foreigners in response to labor shortages in several industries, including tourism.

“We are evaluating various aspects of the migration law and where there is room for improvement… in order to address bottlenecks in Spain’s labor market,” he said.

In response to labor shortages in several industries, including tourism, Spain’s Minister of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration, Jose Luis Escriva, announced last year that the country would relax work permit requirements for foreigners.

He confirmed that the country would issue a greater number of temporary visas for sectors in need of workers to aid the country’s recovery from the labor gap caused by the Coronavirus’s effects.
