As reported by BBC Hausa, a group of bandits abducted more than 80 children, aged between 12 and 17, in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Friday morning.
According to the parents of the victims, the assailants rounded up the children while they were in the bush in the early hours and took them away into the forest.
Despite several interventions by the government to tackle criminal activity, bandits have continued their nefarious activities in the troubled Zamfara region.
Unfortunately, hundreds of school children have been kidnapped in the area, and some were later released upon payment of ransom.
As of the time of the BBC report, the abductors had not contacted the parents to make any demands.
