The Gunners are in shambles after Brighton annihilates #Arsenal’s title hopes at Emirates Stadium—Arsenal’s title chances were dealt another blow when they were defeated 3-0 at home by Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Gunners’ defeat comes only hours after Manchester City defeated Everton 3-0, putting them four points behind Pep Guardiola’s side despite having played one more game.
The hosts were second best throughout, and they suffered an early injury to Gabriel Martinelli after a vicious challenge from Moses Caicedo, and his replacement, Leandro Trossard, hit the crossbar against his previous team.
Roberto De Zerbi’s team created more chances and had more possession, with Julio Enciso missing two decent chances and Evan Ferguson shooting wide from close range.
The Seagulls took the lead early in the second half when an unmarked Enciso headed in Pervis Estupinan’s cross into the box.
Mikel Arteta, who was booked for arguing with a decision, brought in Thomas Partey and Reiss Nelson, but their finishing let them down.
And it was a Brighton substitute, Deniz Undav, who capitalized on Trossard’s error to lob the ball over Aaron Ramsdale.
Estupinan added a third in injury time to Arsenal’s woes.
Man City will win the Premier League title if they defeat struggling Chelsea next Sunday.
