Manchester United midfielder and Portugal International, Bruno Fernandes has said that the club must have achieved beyond expectations this season if they manage to finish within the first four teams in the Premier League.
He said that nobody even gave the Red Devils a chance of finishing in the top four at the start of the season.
Manchester United are currently sitting in fourth place in the league, with a one-point lead over fifth-placed Liverpool and a game in hand.
A club legend, Dwight Yorke had slammed Erik ten Hag for losing as much as nine matches in a single season.
This is despite the fact that the Dutchman met the club in disarray, finishing sixth last season. Fernandes has argued that his side have surprised many with their top-four pursuit.
“No one thought that [Manchester United] would be fighting for top 4. We know that now everyone thinks we have been great but I remember at the start of the season no one even put our team in the top six. It’s a good surprise for them,” he said.
