Gov Adeleke and Ex Senate spokesman clash at Eid praying ground in Osogbo

Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke stormed out of the Osogbo Eid prayer area furious after arguing with former Senate spokesperson Ajibola Basiru about the seating arrangement.

Along with Asiwaju of Osogbo Chief Tunde Badmus and other important Osogbo sons, Basiru arrived at the site to watch Turakat collective prayer.

The front row seat was intended for Basiru, but it was preserved for the governor when one of Adeleke’s protocol employees approached the former lawmaker.

According to The Nation, Basiru’s request to exchange seats in the front row was denied by the protocol officer.

A little while later, Adeleke arrived at the Eid prayer area. Chief Badmus got up from his chair to greet the Governor at the gate.

The protocol officer had ordered that Basiru vacate the front row when he arrived, but numerous natives objected, saying Basiru is one of their well-known sons.

Adeleke was forced to leave his car when the scene caused a stir. After a while, he came back and saw that Basiru was still seated in the first row. He then stormed off without saying a prayer.

Police officers closed the gate shortly after the Governor had left and informed worshipers that they had been given permission to arrest Basiru.

The worshipers pushed the gate open by pushing against it. Following the prayers, Basiru and other well-known Osogbo natives left the area.

Attempt to get reactions from Basiru and Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed proved abortive.
