EPL: Guardiola wanted us to come to Barcelona together – Gundogan

Manchester City Captain Ilkay Gundogan Joins Barcelona On 2-year Contract

Pep Guardiola wanted them to leave Manchester City together, according to new Barcelona player Ilkay Gundogan.

Guardiola’s first acquisition at City, the 32-year-old player, lived next door to his boss.

He has, however, agreed to leave the Premier League champions following a trophy-filled tenure in England.

“One of the hardest calls I had to make was to Pep, telling him that I was going to leave.”

“I think maybe Pep was hoping that we would come here to City together and leave together, but I know that he understands my decision. I am sure it helps that I’m going to his boyhood club,” Gundogan said.

Guardiola’s current contract has two years left to go, and it’s anticipated that he’ll leave City after that.
