Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef is now recognized by Guinness World Records as the person who has cooked for the longest amount of time.
In May 2023, the 26-year-old chef from the state of Akwa Ibom began a 100-hour nonstop cooking marathon.
The previous record holder, Indian chef Lata Tondon, who cooked for 87 hours and 45 minutes, was surpassed by this.
But after carefully examining the available data, Guinness World Records reduced Hilda’s claimed record time by nearly 7 hours, bringing it down to 93 hours and 11 minutes.
“However anyone attempting a marathon record receives a five minutes break for every hour that they complete. This is to allow suitable rest breaks for the participants due to th prolonged nature of these records.
”In this case, there was a miss calculation when it came to Hilda’s rest breaks, meaning we are unable to award the 100 hours claimed.”
”I can now announce with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes, Hilda Baci is the new holder of the Guinness world records title for the longest cooking marathon. Congratulations, you are officially amazing,” a GWR representative said in a video posted online.
