Usman Baba, the outgoing IGP, said he is content to hand over control of the Nigerian Police Force to IGP Kayode Egbetokun because they grew up together on the job.
Life is a stage, according to Baba, who spoke on Tuesday at the Aso Villa in Abuja. People enter and leave when their terms are up, he added.
In a chat with State House correspondent after Egbetokun was decorated with his new rank as IGP, Baba described the event as “very significant”.
It’s a stage; you arrive, perform, and depart. I’m glad to be passing the reins of leadership to a person I trust to continue where I left off, said Baba.
We grew up in the job, we grew up together, the ex-IGP stated when asked how much of his successor he knows. Not even while I was the IG, but at one point I was his employer, and we had been working together since. And I am confident that he can advance law enforcement.
