Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, has refuted claims that he disregarded new teammate Andre Onana during their preseason loss to Real Madrid.
The Portuguese midfielder received criticism for an incident on Thursday’s game and previous petulance charges.
Madrid was given a corner in the 35th minute, and Onana immediately started directing his teammates to position themselves to defend the corner.
Social media users expressed their outrage when Fernandes appeared to overlook the Cameroonian goalkeeper as the two were brushing shoulders.
One clip of the incident went viral on Instagram alongside the caption: “Captain Bruno doesn’t want anyone to correct him or advise him. Bruno completely ignores new signing Onana.”
Fernandes has now directly responded to the video clip, writing: “Nice how you could see me ignoring him when I was going to the place he was telling me to be positioned in the corner.
“Nice try to make it look bad.”
