Despite releasing his debut album ten years ago, Grammy-winning Nigerian musician Damini Ogulu, nicknamed Burna Boy, says he is not troubled by the perception that he is a newcomer to the music business.
According to CREEBHILLS, Davido created controversy last month when he included Burna Boy with Rema, Asake, Fireboy DML, and other “new cats” in his category.
The DMW boss came under fire from many for underrating Burna Boy.
However, in a recent chat with Apple Music’s Ebro, Burna Boy said it is a good thing some people think he is new in the industry, stressing that it makes him feel younger and want to do more.
He said, “It is a good thing that people think my movement is new. I love that. Because it keeps me young. It means like, I can do so much more, you know. It stretches my life span.
“I’m living longer than I thought I would than I even planned to, you know.”
The ‘Last Last’ crooner said he has always known that he would be great.
Burna Boy added that he does all kinds of music because he is “trying to make the world understand that music is bigger than a genre. I feel blessed that I can do different genres. It would have been a waste if I had restricted myself to a genre.”
