Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol believes Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta may come to regret signing Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
That Germany international, who came to Arsenal from Stamford Bridge last week, will not score 18 goals for Arteta’s team next season, according to the Liverpool veteran.
“He’s not going to get 18 goals.” “I’d like to see how he gets all these assists and goals because I doubt he starts,” Nicol told ESPN.
“There is no way [Gabriel] Jesus doesn’t start, right?! The front three is set. If [Kai] Havertz, in his first game, if he does start in the middle, has a shocker, then you might never see him again.
“Arteta might go ‘you know what, I have made a big mistake. This is not going to work’”.
The German forward helped the Blues win the Champions League, Club World Cup and European Super Cup between 2021 and 2022.
