Transfer: Why I left Real Madrid for Manchester United – Casemiro

Brazilian international, Casemiro has provided insight into his choice to go from Real Madrid to Manchester United in the summer of 2016.

After nine and a half years with Los Blancos, Casemiro left Real Madrid with a bag full of title medals.

After making numerous unsuccessful attempts to hire Frankie de Jong from Barcelona, Manchester United decided to go with the Brazilian.

He unexpectedly left Santiago Bernabeu for Old Trafford for a transfer fee of £70 million (with add-ons).

Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, and Supercopa de Espaa at the end of the 2021–22 campaign.

After an amazing season in which he participated in 48 games across tournaments, Casemiro won his sixth Champions League trophy.

Casemiro told Brazilian sports magazine Placar, “It was the chance to leave a big club on top, at an age that still allows me to have that willpower.

“If it were three years from now, I wouldn’t leave for another big one, I wouldn’t have that ambition to change leagues and leverage another giant.”
