Budapest 2023: Amusan wins 100m hurdles heat

Tobi Amusan of Nigeria finished first in his heat on Tuesday as she began her 100m hurdles championship defense at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

It was Amusan’s first race since the Athletics Integrity Unit cleared her of doping.

She won the sixth heat in 12.48s (0.4), ahead of Jamaican Champion Megan Tapper at 12.51s and Australian Michelle Jenneke in 12.71s.

Amusan has already qualified for Wednesday’s semi-finals.

Just over a year after smashing the world record in Eugene, Oregon USA, Amusan has enjoyed a superb run of form, defending her Diamond League title in a record-breaking season that saw her set impressive records.
