Andre Onana and Mason Mount made their Premier League debuts for Manchester United on Monday night, but while one shined, the other was criticized on social media.
After a summer of massive spending, Manchester United’s expectations are sky-high as Erik ten Hag’s revolution continues. Nonetheless, on the penultimate matchday of the new Premier League season, United’s strong showings were few and far between.
Though they won and kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Wolves courtesy to a Raphael Varane strike, fans weren’t overjoyed with what they saw. While Andre Onana looked cool on his Premier League debut, ex-Chelsea man Mason Mount, who cost United €64.2 million, was slammed on Twitter for failing to create a single chance.
Rasmus Hojlund did not play because he is still recovering from an injury. United are still hoping to close some deals, but Erik ten Hag’s main focus will be on improving the players he already has and whipping them into title-challenging shape.
