The Rivers State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a press statement in response to Nyesom Wike’s claim of assisting the APC in the 2023 election in order to clarify the situation.
The Rivers APC declared that they had information that refutes Nyesom Wike’s assertion that he aided the APC in the 2016 presidential election. They claim Wike joined the APC after realizing his political career was in jeopardy and sought safety within the ruling party.
Furthermore, the Rivers APC emphasized that Nyesom Wike’s allegiance to the APC was primarily for personal comfort and to undermine the APC’s strength within Rivers State.
Regarding the last presidential election, the Rivers APC asserted that none of Nyesom Wike’s alleged PDP members collaborated with the APC. They pointed out that some secretly voted for the Labour Party, while others supported the PDP in their respective polling units. The Rivers APC concluded by stating that Wike’s claim of aiding the APC’s election victory lacks empirical evidence.
