Oyo Opc Led by Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams Congratulates Gov. Seyi Makinde, New Amotekun Chairman and Members, Pledges Support for Security in Oyo State

A Yoruba socio-cultural organization, The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), led by Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, Oyo State Chapter under the coordinatorship of Dr. Rauf Olatunji Abiola (Ph.D., ACIPM), congratulated the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for ensuring that the right people were appointed to man the security outfit in the State.

The group, in a congratulatory statement issued by the newly appointed coordinator in Oyo State, Dr. Rauf Olatunji Abiola, on Monday and made available to journalists in Ibadan, extended a hand of congratulation to a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Sikiru Kayode Akande (rtd.) on his appointment as the Chairman of the Board of the Oyo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun, Mrs. I.E., Akinbode – Secretary of the Board, Col. Bisiriyu Olayinka Olayanju (rtd) – Commandant and member of the Board, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security CP Fatai Owoseni (rtd.) and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd.), as well as His Royal Highness Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran and others who are statutory members of the Board on their reappointment by Gov. Seyi Makinde.

According to the statement, the OPC Oyo State chapter wholeheartedly rejoices with the Chairman and other members of the Board of Oyo State Security Network – Amotekun on their well-deserved appointments and prays to God to assist them in discharging their responsibilities.

Dr. Rauf Olatunji Abiola, the newly appointed coordinator of the group and a retired Airforce Officer, pledges support of Oodua People’s Congress led by Iba Gani Adams, the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, to the Board and other security agencies in their fight against criminality to ensure the security of life and property in the State.


Dr. Abiola further pledged that OPC, led by Iba Gani Adams, will continue to place a high premium on the security of the people in the State.

He also advised all OPC members in the State to continue to embrace peace, unity, and love stating that there cannot be any meaningful development in an atmosphere of hatred.


Dr. Rauf Olatunji Abiola, a counseling psychologist and a former teacher of Guidance and Counselling at the Institute of Education, University of Jos, who, until he was appointed the new coordinator of Oodua People’s Congress by Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams to replace Comrade Rotimi Oguntade a.k.a Olumo, was a private Education and Human Resource Management Consultant.
