Tems denies saying Nigerian music lacked ”spirituality’

Talented Nigerian female singer and Grammy-winner, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has denied saying Nigerian music lacks “spirituality.”

A Twitter user, @musicbaseafrica had alleged that the singer in her recent interview with American rapper, Kendrick Lamar, stated that she couldn’t connect with Nigerian music because it “sounded so plain and basic, and there was nothing spiritual about it.”

He wrote: “When I listen to Nigerian music, it sounded so plain and basic, and there was nothing spiritual about it that I could connect to,’ —Tems tells Kendrick Lamar in a recent interview on Intertwine.”

Reacting via the comment section, Tems wrote, “FAKE NEWS!!!! Y’all are smelling fr, agenda must agenda Eyama!!”
