After a series of altercations with fans, celebrated local singer Winnie Nwagi has announced that she will hire security.
Nwagi has recently made headlines for her fiery nature and readiness to stand up to people who try to touch or seduce her in public without her consent.
Nwagi told a local television station that she is weary of being hounded by fans and that she requires protection to defend herself.
“It’s good they’ve warned me ahead that they’ll be hurling them at me,” she said. “I’m now ready. I’ll start moving with security, I’ll be ready with my security when I go to such venues” Winnie said
Nwagi’s decision to hire security is not without precedent. Other Ugandan musicians, such as Eddy Kenzo and Spice Diana, have also beefed up their security in recent months after being harassed by fans.
It remains to be seen how Nwagi’s decision to hire security will affect her relationship with her fans. However, it is clear that she is determined to protect herself from further harassment.
