“The system should get it right for once” Nigerians react to coroner inquest on Mohbad beginning on Friday, 27th September

The inquest investigating Mohbad’s death is scheduled to begin on September 27th, 2023z.

The announcement of the approaching inquest was sent in a letter dated September 26, 2023, addressed to human rights lawyer Mr. Femi Falana SAN, the Lagos Chief Coroner.

The hearing will be held at the Magistrate Court 3, Candide Johnson Courthouse, Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu, Lagos. This announcement marks a big step forward in the investigation into Mohbad’s death.

The major goal of the coroner’s inquest is to shed additional light on the events leading up to Mohbad’s death. With his death eliciting several comments and hypotheses, it is critical to ascertain the facts and circumstances surrounding the tragedy.


This aims to provide answers and closure for the grieving family, as well as the public, who have been deeply affected by the loss Mohbad.

The letter from the coroner magistrate, acting on behalf of the Chief Coroner, Justice M.A. Dada, outlined the details of the inquest. It specified that the proceedings would commence at 12 noon.

The directive is a response to a letter from Mr. Femi Falana’s office, which alerted the Chief Coroner to the tragic death that occurred in Ikorodu, where Mohbad’s life was tragically cut short.
