Rema and Selena Gomez win the first ever Afrobeats award at the VMAs 2023

At the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), Rema, an afrobeat singer, and international artist Selena Gomez won the Afrobeats award for their collaboration on the smash song “Calm Down.” This is also the first Afrobeat nomination to win a VMA award.
