‘This is not needed’ – Rema under fire following tribute to Mohbad

Nigerian singer Rema is facing severe backlash online for his way of mourning his late colleague, Mohbad.

Today, on September 17th, 2023, the 23-year-old artist joined a list of Nigerian celebrities who have taken to social media to express their condolences for Mohbad, who passed away on September 12th, 2023, at the age of 27.

While mourning Mohbad, Rema, known for his hit song “Calm Down,” expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and emphasized that nobody deserves to die in such a manner, stating that this was just the beginning of his career.

However, Rema received criticism online for revealing that he had ignored a message from Mohbad on his Instagram page in 2020, where the late singer expressed his admiration for Rema’s song “Peace Of Mind.”

Rema explained that he only discovered the message after Mohbad’s death and regretted not responding earlier, acknowledging that it is now too late to reply to him.

Rema wrote; “No one deserves to go like this I’m hurt I never saw your DM You wrote ‘Peace of mind’ was your favorite song Now it’s too late to write vou back. God’s Angels be with you, Rest well King.”
